Dr. Scott Fung completed Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at the University of Toronto and Hepatology training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is currently appointed as Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and is a Hepatologist at University Health Network and Sinai Health System. He is the Site Director for Gastroenterology & Hepatology education at Toronto General Hospital, GI Education Coordinator and Education Director for the Toronto Center for Liver Disease. Dr. Fung is also a member of the Education Committee for the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver and the American Association for the Study of the Liver Disease. He is a volunteer for the GI Examination Board of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr Fung’s clinical interests include the epidemiology and treatment of chronic viral hepatitis and metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). He has co-authored numerous manuscripts in high impact peer reviewed journals and has served as guest editor for hepatology and general medicine journals. He served as a steering committee member of the Canadian Hepatitis B Network and co-author of the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver Guidelines on the Management of Chronic Hepatitis B infection.
