Pol Darras was born in France but grew up in Surrey, British Columbia. After completing a Master's in Experimental Medicine at the University of British Columbia, he attended medical school at the University of Manitoba. He returned to Vancouver to complete his residency training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. He developed an interest in cardiovascular disease prevention and was the inaugural Beedie Family Fellow in Lipidology and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at St. Paul’s Hospital. He is now a Clinical Assistant Professor in the UBC Division of Endocrinology and a staff physician at St. Paul’s Hospital, working in the Healthy Heart Program Prevention Clinic, in the Diabetes Health Centre, and on the Endocrinology Consult Service. He now lives in West Vancouver with his wife and three children.
