Dr. Smyth is a pediatric gastroenterologist specializing in Inflammation Bowel Disease, specifically advanced therapy use in refractory pediatric-onset IBD. He is one of the physicians in the Young Adult IBD clinic at the IBD Centre, where he works with patients after they have transferred from BC Children's Hospital. Beyond pediatric-onset IBD, his work focuses on Intestinal Ultrasound in IBD: a point of care, non-invasive monitoring tool for IBD with outstanding accuracy compared to colonoscopy and MR Enterography. Dr. Smyth provides IUS consultation at BC Children's Hospital and the IBD Centre for patients of all ages, and is a senior instructor with the International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS-Group).
